The sta*" film was "Nat Pinkerton and the Bank Thieyes," which was received with enthusiasm. Next Monday evening the greatest picture ever screened in Te Kuiti is promised, entitled "The Last of the Frontignacs," a film that has been received with great favour wherever shown. The scenic, educational and dramatic films are specially selected for next Monday's programme.
PROFESSOR SWALLOWS' CONCERT.
I The full programme for Professor Swallow's concert on the 24th appears in another column of this issue. It is certainly a magnificent programme, containing, the choicest selections of both vocal and instrumental music. These concerts are becoming quite an institution in Te Kuiti. and we have all reason to be proud of our township when such talent of our own can be brought out at such concerts in our own town hall. Numbered ticket for the dress circle chairs may be obtained at Mr McColl's, where also will be sold tickets for the second and third seats.
HOCKEY CLUB SOCIAL
The first social this year, under the auspices of the local hockey club was held on Thursday evening in the Town Hall. After much wet and Btormy weather the elements broke fine and the attendance was such as to. satisfy the most ambitious members of the club. The several committees all worked well and the arrangements were all that could be desired, Mr H. Semmens, secretary of the club, did much towards the success of the function, he being very energetic in his endeavours to see that everything was done which would add to the success of the social. The supper was supplied by the ladies and the most faßtidioufl taste could not have been anything but satisfied. The floor committee worked exceptionally hard and got the floor into a splendid condition for dancing. Mr H. Christian, o£ Waihi, suppl : ea the music, and many were the nice things said about the same. Moit pleasing extras were supplied by Misses McKay, Brown, and Messrs Clapham and C. Hitchcock. Everything considered the social was one of the most enjoyable held in Te Kuiti for some time. Messrs McColl, Aiken and Bateman discharged the onerous duties of M.C.'s in a very masterly manner, and dancers had nothing to complain of whatever. It is the intention of the club to hold a series of socials in the near future, and it is quite evident from the support accorded the club on Thursday evening that they should be great successes.
