THE HOSPITAL MOVEMENT.

The interest aroused by the project to establish a Hospital at Te Kuiti was plainly evidenced by the number of ladies who attended the meeting on Thursday afternoon for the purpose of assisting the move' rnent. As was explained very clearly by Mr Boddie, King Country representative on the Waikato Hospital Board, the matter of establishing a hospital at Te Kuiti iB merely incidental to a comprehensive movement, which will affect a very large district. Under present conditions it cannot be hoped to establish a hospital in the town. The King Country is portion of the Waikato Hospital district and as such contributes towards the upkeep of the Waikato Hospital. It is daily becoming more apparent that the present state of affairs can only last until it is possible to effect a severance of this portion of the district from the Waikato. In such a matter the financial aspect will require to be very carefully considered and when proper arrangements can be * made the process will be accomplished in a constitutional manner. Meanwhile it is gratifying to see that the people are thoroughy alive to the importance of the be hoped the efforts to gather funds will be highly successful, and that by the time it is possible to create a King Country hospital district, a substantial amount will be available aa a result of the disinterested efforts of our citizens. The thanks of all are due to those who are endeavouring to further such a worthy object, and we have every confidence the public will not fail to respond to liberally When called upon.
