Owing to pressure on our space the report furnished to the Te Kuiti Borough Council on the spiral pipes is held over till next issue. Next Wednesday evening, at 8 o'clock, a social will be held in St. Luke's Sunday School to bid farewell to Mrs and Miss Melling. These ladies have been associated with church and all other work %r the good of the town since the early days of Te Kuiti, and many of the settlers have reason to remember the unfailing courtesy and ready assistance of Miss Melling, whether in her public or private capacity. All friends of Mrs and Miss Mlling, both Maori and European, are cordially invited to be present on Wednesday evening. Te Kuiti Hockey Club sent a men's and ladies' team to Te Awamutu on Wednesday. The men were defeated by five goals to three, while the ladies obtained a victory by one goal to nil. The visitors speak in glowing terms of the hospitality extended to them by * the Te Awamutu Club. The manager of the Waitomo Government hostel has reported to the director of the Tourist Department, Mr B. M. Wilson, the discovery of a new chamber, which will lend an added charm to this popular resort. Following a passage off the main cave near the "Organ Loft" the manager and guide have opened up a chamber from two and a half to three chainß in length, full of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, differing in many respects from those in the main cave and with a floor which is a mass of wonderful formations. The new find will prove a valuabe addition to the manifod wonders of the caves district.
