TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.

The usual meeting of the Parliamentary Union under the auspices of the Te Kuiti Debating Society was held on Thursday evening. There was a large attendance. The Governor's Speech produced by Mr Scholes and his colleagues was read by the Governor, Mr E. H. Hardy, and debated. Chief interest centred in the Land settlement proposals brought down by the Minister for Lands, Mr H. A. Ellison, and the labour leigslation outlined by the Minister for Labour, Mr A. F. Howarth. The Land Bill was read a first time and will be debated on Thursday evening next, it having been arranged to devote the whole of the remaining evenings to Parliamentary business.
