OHURA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Kakaki Loan.—The settlers sen? notice that they did not intend to proceed any further with the loan for widening. Received Tokirima Telephone. — A statement of revenue and expenditure of this office to the end of March, 1912, showed a deficiency of sd. As the office is almost self-supporting the bond from the council was cancelled.

Mangaroa Towngship. The Land Board has applied for a sum to fell the bush between Mangaparere road and Mangaroa road. —The request concerning the felling of bush on «ections along Waitewhona road has been referred to the head office and a further answer will be sent. Whenuakura Road Contract.—Mr John Gray wrote requesting that payment be made.

Thirds. —Approval of proposals for expenditure of thirds accrued to March 31st, 1912, and a voucher for the amount of £441 19s 2d has been passed for payment by the Land Board.

Clifton County Rates.—The Cilfton county clerk wrote notifying that there was no rates or thirds in hand from the sections transferred to the Ohura county.—Further inquiries to be made. Acces3 to Native Lands. Messrs Earl, Kent and Howarth wrote on behalf of Mrs Evan McGregor, of Turakina, to obtain legal access to her section from the Ohura road at a point four and a half miles from Ongarue. It would be necessary to apply to the Governor for a proclamation taking the road under section 389 of the Native Land Act. The length would be thirteen chams. —The council expressed its willingness to assist.

Waitewhena Road Contract. —The road overseer has been intruded to inspect the work, and the claim should be forwarded at oxce to the Te Kuiti office to prevent delay on receipt of the overseer's report. Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.—Payment of £IBO 16s Bd, the amuunt of allocation due by the Ohura County for the year ending March 31st, 1912, wa3 authorised. Back Blocks Local Bodies Association.—The Waitomo County Council wrote urging the formation of a Back Blocks Local Bodies Association.

Harvey-Tokiriam Loan. —The superintendent wrote on June 4th, with reference to council's application for a loan of £3OOO to metal HarveyTokirima roads and informing council that the following resolution was passed by the Advances Board on January 15th, viz.:—That in granting loans to local bodies preference be given to those to which loans have not been granted; limit to remain at £SOOO and rate to be 3| per cent; as your council has already exceeded this amount I regret that the above application cannot be entertained. Matiere Township Timber. —The Land Board agreed to allow timber to b9 taken off township reserves for papa burning under the supervision of Ihe Crown lands ranger. ,

A petition was received from the Opatu settlers to gain severance from the Whangamomona county. The question of grants for roading was gone into and it was agreed to a9k for a total of £21,250 for expenditure and five and a half miles of metalling on the Ohura road, two miles between Matiere and Ongarue, two miles betweenMatiere and Mangaroa, and one and a half between Mangaroa and Tatu.

Resolved that the Commissioner of Crown Lands be requested to place the block of land lying south of the Tongaporutu road on the market as soon as possible. Resolved that application be made to the Minister of Landß to have section 28, block 2, set aside as an agricultural show ground.

Magistrate's Court. The council resolved to make representation to the. Minister of Justice to have a sitting of the magistrate's court held at Matiere at an early date. Moved by Cr Lyon, seconded by Cr Sandison, that the Minister of Pubilc Works be written to explaining that only two councillors were notified of Mr Furcut's (inspecting engineer) visit, and he be asked to excuse the seeming discourtesy to the engineer Motion lost.

Stray Cattle.- The number of stray cattle in the county was under consideration, and it was supeestod that a paddock be leased to impound stray cattle, and that every effort be made to get the pound site cleared: in the meantime the inspector was instructed to take action to remove all stock he may deem dangerous.
