Maxwell applied to partition the license of sections 1 to 5, block 2, Taurakawa, and sections 2, 3 and 4, block 14, Mahoe. —Resolved that the partitions be approved, and that six months' extension of time be granted to effect sufficient improvements. APPLICATIONS TO CONVERT LEASEHOLD. The following applications to convert leaseholds were received: —G. W. E. Richardson, section 14, block 7, Cape: L, Smith, section 5, block 2, Mahoe; C. Dickie, section 5, block 12, Opaku; C. Dickie, section 2, block 12, Opaku. —Approved. IMPROVED FARM SETTLERS' LEASES. The following improved farm settlers applied for their leases to issue:—E. J. Charters, section 10, block 2, Totoro; J. B. Mortenscn, section 14, block 4, Totoro; A. E. Bloomfield, section 16, 4, Totoro; J. L. Kennett, section 2, block 4, Totoro; J. B. Mills, section 15, block 4, Totoro; H. P. C. McLean, section 7, block 2, Totoro. —Resolved that leases be issued upon bills of sale over stock supplied by being redeemed. A. Cameron, selector of section 4, block 8, Upper Waitara, declined to sign his lease, and asked that a portion of the rent paid by him be refunded. —Resolved that the interpst of the settler be forfeited, and the land re-opened for selection. EDUCATION RESERVES. The following transactions in Education reserves were considered by the board: — J. and R. W. Barron to F. G. Seymour, section 1, block 3, Omona. —Approved. A. Kalchert to H. D. and R. W. Wallath, section 1288, New Plymouth. —Approved. Julius Jacobsen to Evan Jones, section 42, block 3, Ngaire.—Approved. GENERAL. The commissioner submitted values of sections in Whatitokama blocks lately surveyed by Mr N. C. Kensington.— Resolved that the prices be adopted, and the matter left in the hands of the commissioner to open the land for settlement under optional conditions as soun as possible, he to use his discretion as to which sections should be reserved for disposal amongst landless married men.

In connection with this Mr Heslop moved that the portion of the resolution of October 17th, 1911, referring to the remission of rent upon the "opening of the Whatikokama block for settlement, be rescinded by striking out all the words from "'December" to "one year" inclusive. This was seconded by Mr Rattenbury and carried.

V. Klee applied for a piece of reserve between section 49 and the Recreation reserve, Whangamomona township.—Referred to ranger for report, —Resolved to give the present tenants the ntcessary notice to termination of tenancies, and that the sections be uffered for sale by public auction for cash, at upset prices to be fixed.

A. C. Gibbs applied for remission of rent on section 1, block 5, Taurakawa, Referred for ranger's report. The board considered the application of C. J. Ryan for section 28, block 2, Ohura. Resolved that as the board intends to offer this land for selection shortly, it cannot entertain the application.

The board reconsidered the question of R. Cleaver's residence on section 15, block 11, Mapara.—Resolved that the resolution of last meeting be rescinded. Further action in the matter was considered its committee. Mrs Janet Eide, selector of section 4, block 7, Waro, wrote asking if her husband could perform residence conditions on her section. —Resolved that the tenant be called upun to reside on the land when the term of exemption expires, otherwise her interest will be forfeited.

W. -Mills applied for a monthly tenancy of sections 4 and 51, block 4, Paritutu. —Agreed to.

A. George wrote objecting to tha sale of part of Holsworbty road in front of his section 24, Omata. district, applied for by D. Teed be not au>reud to. The Taranaki County Council wrote objecting to the. sale of part of Omata ro ! :d in part of native reserve, Grey district. Resolve that no further steps be taken in the matter and that Mr Marfell's application to purchase be refused.

E. Tolme, Crown lands ranger, reported on nine holdings: improvements required £1331, effected £4BBB. None were in default for residence or improvements —Satisfactory. The Okau Co.-operative Dairy Factory Co., applied for the freehold of part 2, block 8, Mimi. —Resolved that the application be granted and that Mr H. F. Twiss be appointed appraiser for the valuation of the land. The following settlers are in default for residence: H. F. Cane, section 7, block 13, Upper Waitara, improvements.—Deferred for ranger's inspection. E. S. Von Sturmer, section 5, block 3, Waro, improvements.—Consideration deferred for ranger's report. A letter was read from A. McMillan. asking that the forest reserve in the Matemateaonga range be opened for settlement. —Resolved that the matter be left in the hands of the commissioner to confer with the ranger, and suggest the lands over which the reservation should be removed.

The commissioner reported that the present leases of small grazing runs section 661 and 662, Patea district, will expire on August 31st, 1911. — Resolved that the ranger's report be obtained. '

Wallath Bros, asked permission to erect two cottages on section 1288, New Plymouth.—Permission granted, the houses to be at least' 30 feet apart.

The board considered the question of noxious weeds on sections 11 and 12, block 2, Ngaire, leased by William Sharrock. Resolved to inform him that unless he complies with the regulations of the noxious weeds inspector the board will re-enter upon the leasehold.
