Requiring 329 to win the Colonials made 307. Smith and Jennings top-scored, the former makinglOO and the latter 82. AUSTRALIA v. SOMERSET. COUNTY BEATEN BY TEN WICKETS. London, Friday. The weather was showery and the attendance small when the Australians commenced their match against Somerset at Bath yesterday, while the wicket was wet. Somerset batted first, but the aounty team was unable to cope with Minnett and Matthews, who bowled unchanged throughout. Minnett took two wickets for in his first over and repeated the performance at 15. The County compiled the small score of 59, Bisgood, 27, being the only batsmen to reach double figures. Australia's first innings realised 184. Macartney was in for 60 minutes and played faultlesß cricket* Scores:— Smith 6, Mayne 20, Macartney 49, Bardsley 18, Gregory 28, Kelleway 4, Minnett 16, Matthews 18, Emery 14, MacLaren 3, Webster not out 0, sundries B—total 184. In the second innings Somerset performed better, aggregating a total of 204—Hardy 21, Daniell 26, Bajana 12, Bisgood 41, Braund 4, Tilliard 14, Robins 35, Sutton 0, Joy 6, Greswell not out 6, Newton 6, sundries 29--total 204.
