DISTRICT REQUIREMENTS.
REPLIES FROM MINISTER. During the past few weeks Mr C. K. Wilson, member for the district, has been busily engaged in making representations to Parliament with respect to various matters of importance to the district generally. MIROAHUIAO-MATIERE ROAD. A shore time ago the settlers interested in this road promoted a scheme for the metalling of a considerable portion of the road from Matiere. Application was made for a subsidy for the proposed loan and Mr Wilson has received the following letter on the subject:—■ "I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of May 13th urging on behalf of the Ohura County Council that a £2 for £1 subsidy be granted in respect of the proposed metalling of the above-described road, and, in reply, have to state that the resident engineer has been already instructed to report upon the application and I shall be glad to give consideration to your representations in the matter when the Public Works Estimates are being compiled. —W. D. S. Mac Donald." KAIRIMU ROAD. On the subject of the Kairimu road the following leter will explain itself: "I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of May 26th,.in which you draw attention to the condition of the Kairimu road, and, in reply, to state that 1 am enquiring into the matter and you will be further communicated with.—W. D. S. MacDonald. ARIA-TANGITU ROAD. The connection of Tangitu settlement with the Aria road system will be generally recognised as work of urgency in a rapidly growing district and the fact that Mr Wilson's representations have resulted in estimates being made for the necessary work will give satisfaction to those interested :
"Referring to the letter which you forwarded to me from Mr C. Eriksson, of Te Kuiti who urged the necessity of a road connecting Aria and PioPio with the Tangitu settlement, I have to state that I have now received a report from the resident engineer in regard to this matter, together with estimates of the cost of dray road, bridle track and stock track completion, and 1 shall be glad to give consideration to the representations which have been made regarding the necessity for this road when the Public Works Estimates are being compiled next session. —W. D. S. Mac Donald."

"Referring to your letter to the Commissioner of Crown Lands regarding drainage which requires attention in the Matiere township, 1 have now the honour to advise you that instructions have been issued to the resident engineer at Straford to have this work attended to." W. D. S. Mac Donald."
