TE KUITI BRANCH
RECREATION GROUNDS
WANTED
A meeting of the Te Kuiti branch of the Sports Protection League was held at the Municipal Hall last night. There was a fair attendance and Mr N. C. Matthew presided. The rules as submitted by the subcommittee were adopted. Recreation Ground. Considerable discussion took place on (he question of a recreation ground for Te Kuiti, the sneakers being agreed that the present ground wa3 altogether too small. It was decided on the motion of Mr Howarth, seconded by Mr Power, that this meeting considers the Borough Cuuncil should take immediate steps to secure control of the Domain and put the ground in a fit str.te for the purposes for which it was intended.
It was pointed out that the present Domain although only a small area was the only available recreation ground at present, and it should be turned to account in the meantime.
The fol'owing motion was then agreed to: —That in view of the absence of a proper recreation ground in Te Kuiti the the committee of the League be instructed to endeavour to arrange with the Te Kuiti Borough Council to secure an adequate area of ground for recreation for the people of Te Kuiti.
The motion was warmly supported, and a committee consisting of Messrs Matthew, Lusk and Howarth wa3 appointed to wait on the Council at next meeting regarding the matter.
