TE KUITI MUNICIPAL BAND.
- At the meeting, held in Mr McDonald's shop last Wednesday a good deal of important business was transacted. It is understood ihnf. n nibsidy of Jt-oO has practically been granted by the Horough Council, and it. was felt that action should be taken, if possible, (o obtain indruments. The secretary slated that, tinder these circumstance?, this would be possible. In order to avoid all semblance of partiality, after considerable discussion the chairman, taking the apparent feeling of th' l meeting. put the question of "make" of instruments to the vote by show of hands, and a unanimous verdict was given.
The following otlicers were elected (subject; to acceptance by those gentlemen who were obviously not present, but who havo been written to) :
Patron, Mr C. K. Wilson, M.lk : president, his "Worship the Mayor, Mr E. H. Hardy; vice-presidents, Major Lusk and Mr Boddie; bandmaster. Mr Gosnell; deputy-bandmaster, Mr McDonald.
Various matters, not of general public interest, were discussed and subscriptions lists were distributed to those present. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 30th inst, at; 7.H0 p.m.. in Mr McDonald's shop. It is confidently expected that every member will be present, otherwise a great deal of trouble may jfise later on in regard to the second and fourth items on the agenda.
