Newton King reports: — On 13th inst. I had only a fair yarding at Urenui, with dull competition throughout. Mixed weaners brought 355, poor and bad coloured 13s to 15s, 15 months steers 45s t0,49s 6d, 20 months steers, good £3 108, 2J to 3 year steers £4 3s to £5 3s, fat bullocks £8 7s, forward bullocks £6 7s, bulls £2 5s to £2 12s 6d, store cowb £2 15s to £3 7s 6d, old cows 32s 6d to 445, forward cows £4 to .£4 15s, fat cows £5 4s to £5 10s 20 months heifers in calf £3 15s, 3 year heifers in calf £5 to £6 3s mixed ewes lis to 12s Bd, puor 6s, lambs 7s 6d to 8s Bd, store wethera lis lOd to 14s. At Toko on the same day empty 20 muntbs heifers realised £3 ss, mixed weaners 14s to 25s 6d, weaner steers 24s to 295, weaner heifers 26s to 30s, store cows £2 to £3 9s, forward cows £4 14s.

At Stratford on 14th inst., I had a very heavy entry, all yards and pens being well filled. Store cows did not meet with as good enquiry as at late sales, although prices obtained were about the same. Good weaner to yearling heifers met with good competition as also did fat and forward cows. Prices — Mixed wsanera bad colours 10s 6d to 22s 6d, Jersey heifers, good £2 to £2 lis, grades 21s to 335, 20 months, empty heifers £2 19s to £3 ss, 20 months steers £3 Us, 20 months in calf heifers £3 14s to £4 7s 6d, store cows £2 14s 6d to £3 15s; old cows 20s to 42s 6d, forward cows £4 to £4 6s, Cat cows £6 to £4 10s, dairy cows, guaranteed £5 to £6, 21 year steers £4 to £4 7s 6d, Holtsein weaner bulls 28a to 30s, !8 months roap bull £2 2s 6d, small lambs 4s 8d to 5s Id, store ewes 9s sd, s.m. ewes 4s Id.

In my Stoney River yards on 15th inst. there was only a small yarding, the majority being good store and forward cows, which were dull 1 of sale. Prices —Weaner heifers from 21a to 33s 6d, steers 17s 6d to 37s 6d according to quality, empty 20 months heifers £3 3s 6d, springing heifers £6, 20 months steers £3, 20 months in calf heifers, good £4 13a, store cows £2 33 to £3 9s 6d, forward cows £3 4a 6d to £3 13s 6d, fat cow 3 £4 2s to £4 sa, dairy cows guaranteed £3 153 to £5 15s, lambs 7s 6d, store piga 15s. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report for the week ending May 17th, as follows: At Feilding on Friday we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, which sold at full ruling rates. We quote: —Cull ewes in lamb 7h 4d to 7s 6d, empty ewes 7s 6d, other ewes to 8s 2d, better do. to 9s, wether lambs to lis, atore cows £3, empty Jersey cows £3 16s, empty Shorthorn cows £3 17s 6d to £4 is, light fat cows £4, better do. £4 18s, 20 month steers £3 14s 6d, 20 month heifers £3 12s, 2 year steers to £3 17s 6d, fat heifers £4 16s, light fat heifers £4 7s 6d to £4 15s, light fat cows £5, backward calvers £3 16s, forward calvers to £5, springing cows £9. Abraham and Williams, Ltd. report — At our Palmerston North sale on 16th insl. the following prices were realised:— 2 tooth wethers 13s 9d, ewes in lamb 8s 7'l, fat ewea 12s 9d, store ewes 6s to 7s 6d, 2J year steers £5 15s, 20 month steers £3 19a 6d, fat and forward cows £4 12s 6d, mixed weaners 275, yearling heifers £2 lis, springing cows £4 2s 6d to £(] ss, to £lO 15s, cows and calve 3 £2 lis, bulls £2 to £3.
