The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: At Pirongia on May Gth, we had a medium entry of cattle, which nearly all changed hands. Prices—2A year heifers in calf £4 17s, 18 months empty heifers £3 7s, empty store cows £3 to £3 12s Gd, cows in fresh condi tion to £4 7s 6d, calves 29s to 3s Gd, 2 tooth wetnsrs 12s Sd, weaner pigs 9s. At our Ohaupo sale on May 7th, a splendid yarding of grown steers came forward, and, being well bred and in good condition, were rather dull of sale, but nearly all the sheep sold at auction or afterwards. Prices —Grown steers in forward condition £6 17s to £1 IGs, 3 to 3J year steers £5 IGs to £6 12s. 3 year steers £5 5s to £5 lis, 2 to 21 year steers £4 4s to £4 ISs, fat cows £5 10s to £6, empty cows in forward condition £4 to £4 12s 6d, store cows £3 to £3 14s, 20 month steers £3 7s to -S3 15s. well grown heifer calves 40s to 46s 6d, medium sort 3 30s to 30s, springing heifers £6 7s Gd to £6 17s 6d, fat ewes 10s Gd to lis Gd, forward empty ewes 9s 3d, ewe lambs 9s, lambs mixed sexes 5s id to Gs Gd. On the Sth inst we held a sale at Rangiriri, when 1273 head of cattle were yarded, a large proportion being forward bollocks, for which there was keen demand. All classes were wanted, and the total entry changed hands. Prices —Fat steers £8 12s 6d to £9 2s 6d, grown steers in forward condition £7 to £8 23 6d, 3 to 3J year steers £6 5s to £6 15s, 2\ to 3 year steers £4 18s to £5 16s. 2 year steers £4 2s 6d to £4 13s, 18 months steers £3 8s to £3 14s, 2 year heifers in calf £h 17s to £6 13a 6d, 2£ year heifers £4 13s to £4 19s, prime fat cows £7 5s to £9 6s, medium cows £5 10s to £6, store cows £3 lis to £4 13s, according to condition, yearling steers £2 14s to £3 3s.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Ham ilton, report as follows: — We held our usual Te Uku sale at on the 10th inst., when we had a full yarding and a good attendance. Bidding was brisk for most lines. We quote—3 year steers £5 15s, 2 year steers, £4 5s to £4 9s, 18 month steers £3 12s, good yearlings £2 19s to £3 ss, calves 20s to 30s, 1\ year heifers in calf £4l 9s to £5 15s, springing heifers £6 to £6 15s, empty cows £2 to £3 10a, fat cows £4 19s mixed hoggets 7s, unbroken hacks £7 7s to £lO, boy's pony £3. The Farmers' Co-operative Agency Co., Ltd., report:— At Tirau on May Bh, we yarded 1639 sheep and 803 head of cattle, and have to report a fairly good sale. Fat ewes lis 6d to 13s, store lambs. 5s to 8s sd, fat steers £7 10s to £8 ss, fat cows £5 5s to £6 2s 6d, forward cows £4 to £4 10s fresh 3 year steers £5 10s to £6, fresh 2£ year steers £4 15s to £4 19s, good calves 35s to 403, others 20s to 255, choice dairy heifers up to £7, dairy cows £6 to £9, weaner pigs 5a to 9s, medium draught horses £lB. At Hamilton yards on May 9th, the entry comprised 2274 sheep, 365 head of cattle and 65 pigs. A large portion of the sheep entry Were fat sheep and notwithstanding this prices were a shade better than late sales. Balance of entry were lambs, and these also showed a little advance in value. Half of the catttle were fat and forward stock, and this clas3 sold well. Weaner pigs 7s to 12s, slips 18s to 25s porkers 32a, fat ewes lis to 14s, fat wethers 14s lOd tn 17s 3d, fat lambs 10s to lis 6d, store ewes 8s to 10s, fat strong store lambs 7s 6d to 10a, fat steers £7 9s to £9 7s 6d, fat heifers to £6 2s 6d, fat cows £5 5s to £6 7s, aged killable cows £4 5s to £4 12s Gd, 18 months steers £3 10s to £3 15s, dairy heifers in calf £4 15a to £5 15s, good calves up to 40s, others 15s to 20s.

At Tamahere on May 10th, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr Hubert Cox. There was a large attendance and keen competition throughout. The dairy herd consisted of 55 cows and 15 heifers. Cows made from £6 to £ll ss, the whole herd averaging £8 2s. The heifers were a fine lot and made up to £lO ss, the average being £8 4s 4d, steer calves 30s. Holstein heifer calves £3 3s, fat and forward ewes 10s. lambs 7s, draught mare with foal at foot £67 10s, draught colt 2 years 2Rgns. draught geldinrs £25 to £27, filly by Woodstock £2 10a, hunter "Perfect" £47, implements harness and saddles sold at satisfaetory prices. Messrs Abraham and Williams report on their Hunterville sale on Wednesday:—Good yardings of both sheep and' cattle. There was a good demand throughout and we have to report a total clearance with the exception of one pen of fat heifers. Quotations—Good mixed lambs lis Id to 13s 2d, medium do 7s 6d to Ss Ck], cull do. 5s (Id, medium ewe lambs 10s 9d. 2 and 4 tooth, wethers 13s 9d to 14s 6d, small do. 12s 6d, mixed age ewes in lamb 9s 3d to lis 4d, cull 2 tooth ewes 9s, fat and forward ewes 12s 9d, IS months steers £3 14s, heifers in'calf£4 14s, bull £3 10s, forward bullocks £7 to £7 10s.
