FARMERS' UNION.

KIO KIO BRANCH. . Own Correspondent. A meting of the branch was held on Saturday last, when there were present Messrs Ross, in_the chair, Budge, Cumpstone, Walter Wylie, Rogers, Cooper, Wallace, Danks, and Hudson, secretary. Messrs Gorringe, Burke and J. McGovern were elected members of the branch. The Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote that the ranger had been instructed to report on the proposed hall site. The secretary of the Hauturu branch of the union wrote asking that united effort action be taken to obtain a trial survey of the railway route from Kawhia to the Main Trunk line. ■ —The secretary was instructed to act on the lines suggested. The County Engineer wrote that a grant of £2O had been voted for the main road outside Mr Budge's property. —On the secretary's request this amount had been held over until the spring, the engineer intimating that he wuiild be glad of ratepayers' assistance in overseeing the work.— The meeting passed a resolution approving the principle of a ratepayer acting as overseer subordinate tu the engineer in the latter's absence. Remit 3 to the forthcoming Provincial Conference were discussed to obtain opinions for the guidance of the branch's delegate. —It was decided to approach the postal authorities in respect to mail arrangements at flag stations during holidays. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Wm. Vicary accepting his offer to address a meeting of settlers on the subject of road metalling, and to convene a meeting at Mr Vicary's convenience.
