MANIAPOTO RUGBY UNION.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annua' meeting of the Maniapoto Rugby Union was held at Te Kuiti last night. The president (Mr E. C. Falwasser) occupied the chair, and there were present delegates from Otorohanga, Mangapehi, ai.d Te Kuiti Athletic clubs.

The annual report and balance-sheet were read by the secretary (Mr A. S. Gresham), the report being optimistic, but the balance-sheet showing a deficit on the year's working. Considerable discussion ensued a3 to whether the meeting should be adjourned in order to give an opportunity to delegates from other clubs to be present. It was stated that the Hangatiki and Tanehopuwai Clubs intended again entering teams for the competitions, but had not yet held their club meeting and were consequently not represented. The secretary said the Waimiha club had decided to affiliate with the Union and had paid the entrance fee. If Hangatiki and Tanehopuvvai clubs competed this year it would mean that seven clubs .would be competing.

Mr Worthington, Otorohanga, said he did not like the idea of a postponement. The season was now late and a start should be made to get the club matches going, otherwise, when Union fixtures came on the competitions would be disorganised. It was decided to adjourn the meeting for a week in order to give other clubs an opportunity of holding their meetings and being represented on the Union.

The secretary was instructed to communicate with the King Country Union regarding boundaries and with the Domain Board with respect to securing the playing ground for the season.
