AMUSEMENTS.
EMPIRE PICTURE COMPANY. The usual Monday night's exhibition at the Town Hall was again largely attended, and the audience had no reason to complain of the splendid series of the latest pictures comprising tha programme. All the items were good judging from the hearty applause and laughter during the evening. On Friday evening next the Empire Company will give a special performance in Te Kuiti, particulars of which will be found in our advertising columns to-day. An excellent programme is announced of a w T ell assorted description, and patrons can rest asureds that it will be one that is calculated to provide good entertainment for all who witness it,
HYPNOTISM EXTRAORDINARY. The Norwoods and Von Arx huge combined shows, which appears in Te Kuiti at an early date, have done record business in Wellington for thirteen nights. So sensational was a feat of hvpnotism performed by Professor that the police were compelled to prosecute the company for obstructing the traffic of the city, thousands of people crowding in the principal thoroughfare to witness a performance of a lady being hypnotised and made to play a piano in a shop window whilst under the spell.
