TE KUITI MAYORAL ELECTION.
MR E. H. HARDY ELECTED
Nominations for the position of Mayor of Te Kuiti for the ensuing term closed on Wednesday last and resulted in only one candidate being nominated in the person of Mr E. H. Hardy who was therefore duly elected. It was confidently anticipatad that the retiring Mayor, Mr James Boddie. who has held the position since the inauguration of the Borough, would have accepted nomination, and in fact such was Mr Boddie's intention until Mr Hardy's intention to nominate became known. In view of the fact that he had already filled the position for two terms, and taut Mr Hardy (vas the senior councillor on the Borough, Mr Boddie decided to withdraw in favour of Mr Hardy.
The Mayor-elect has always taken a keen interest in the affairs of town, and has supported the progressive policy which has done so much to placeTe Kuiti in line with much olderestablished centres. He has been a member of the Borough Council since its inception, and can confidently be regarded as a thoroughly representative and progressive citizen.
