OTOROHANGA TOWN COUNCIL.
Own Correspondent
The ordinary meeting oftheOtorohanga Town Council was held in the Council's office on April 4th. There were present Messrs J. Ormsby (chairman), W. Vicary, H. J. Osmond, M. Cowley and Hari Hemara. Correspondence from Mr Warburton in reference to some work done was left to the chairman to deal with. Building Permits.—An application for a permit was received from Mr C. Miller for the erection of a villa residence (submitting plans and specifications) on section 9, Kanawa street.— Permit was granted on the proposal of Messrs Cowley and Osmond.—An application was received from Messrs Moffat and Sate for permission to erect a bake house at the rear of Messrs Earl and Earl's section, Mamapoto street.—Permit granted Messrs Cowley's and Osmond's proposal. Dog Tax.—At a former meeting it was decided to write to Sir J. Carroll requesting him to have the Otorohanga Town Council gazetted with authority to collect a dog tax. This letter had been sent, so Mr Vicary proposed that the town clerk be instructed to write to the present Minister for Native Affairs in connection with the matter. Seconded by Mr Cowley and carried. Special Rate.—lt wa« proposed by Mr Vicary that a special meeting be called for Saturday at 4 o'clock for receiving tenders for road formation and metalling, and also to pass a special .rate of one penny three farthv Mrs in the pound on the capital value Tcali ratable property in the township, such rate to liquidate the loan for street improvement. Seconded by Mr €owley and carried.
