—. ■«. 1 Own Correspondent. A plain and fancy dress ball was held in the Aria Public Hall on Friday, March 29th, and was a great success in every way, visitors from Pio Pio and Padmako being present, and about forty-five couple dancing on the floor at once making a very pretty scene. Mr D. Hotet supplied the music, which was all that could be desired, Mr F. J. Mayne acting as M.C. Everything went splendidly from start to finish at daylight next morning. The ladies in fancy dresß were: —Miss N. Mayne, Queen of the harem; Miss G. Mayne, Folly; Miss C. Thomas, Colleen Bawn; Miss M. Marrelle, Starlight; Miss Churcher, Ivy; Miss Matatu, Maori Princeßs; Mrs Macdonald, Royal Colours; Mrs Keighley, Red Cross Nurse; Mra Mayne, Matron; Mrs R. Keighley, cream satin; Mrs J. Keighley, white silk; Mrs Simeon, pink satin; Mrs Davidson, cream dreßs; Mrs Moore, white silk; Mißs McGill, pink satin; Mrs Kenny, pink satin; Miss Elwood, cream satin; Miss Sangster, white; Mr McHolm, Highlander; Mr Cameron, daylight and dark; Mr E. West, Man-o'-warsman; Mr Mepi, Bandsman; Mr Winne, Mr Volunteer; Mr Stubbins, Bandsman; Mr Waiherre and wife, Maori Couple. We hope to get another ball off soon, the proceeds to go towards furnishing the hall with seats, etc.
