TE KUITI CATHOLIC CHURCH.
OPENING CEREMONY The new Catholic Church at Te Kuiti was opened last Sunday, the ceremony being attended by a large number, including representatives from Otorohanga, Paemako, Aria, Mangaohae, Pomerangi, Waitomo, and other out districts. The opening services were conducted by Bishop Cleary, who arrived at Te Kuiti on Saturday, from Auckland. Confirmation was held by the Bishop on Sunday, and a special address to the children, previous preparatory services of children having been held by Father Gillan, Vicar-General of the Diocese. After the morning service luncheon was supplied in the Town Hall. Special thanks are due to the ladies for their efforts in this respect, the appreciation of the guesta bearing eloquent testimony to the success of the efforts. Evening devotions in the new church were again well attended, when a characteristically eloquent address was delivered by the Bishop and the Benediction pronounced. Much credit is due to the Rev. Father Brennan and the church members for their efforts towards the erection of the church, and it is highly gratifying to see that material realisation of those efforts has at last been obtained There is still a considerable amount yet to be accomplished in the way of interior finishing work, but it is not too much to hope that the efforts of Father Brennan supplemented by those of the congregation will shortly lead to the completion of
