LABOUR IN NEW ZEALAND.
CONFERENCE OR STRIKE. THE FEDERATION'S OBJECTIVE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —-VRESS ASSOCiU'nON. ] Auckland, This Day. The officials of the Federation of Labour are very reticent as to the unsettled dispute between the general labourers and employers. The afternoon shift of tramway workers held a meeting yesterday, which was not open to the press. It is understood the meeting was unanimous in a decision to place the Union in the hands of the Federation of Labour. In the course of their remarks at the meeting it has been ascertained that the labour leaders made it clear that they are engaged in a campaign of the organisation of all unions affiliated or connected with the Federation in the Dominion. When thi3 is finished if the Federation remains 'unrecognised by employers to the extent of granting a conference the gong will sound for a general strike.
