RACING.

The members of Te Kuiti Racing Club have every reason to feel pleased at the satisfactory balance-sheet presented by the secretary in connection with the recent meeting. All things considered a credit balance of over £3OO must be regarded as highly satisfactory and it should assist materially in assuring the success of the club. It was recognised on all hands that a successful inaugural meeting was necessary in order to justify the action of those people who had shouldered a heavy responsibility and .the financial result is thus all the more gratifying. At the committee meeting those present were unanimous in their praise of the manner in which Mr N. B. Lusk had thrown himself into the work of organising the meeting, and expressions of approval were of a very cordial nature. It is well known that Mr Lusk is an enthusiast in the interests of the sport, and his efforts on behalf of the club from its inception have been whole-hearted, and well deserve recognition. The sub-committee appointed to submit a list of improvements to the course recommended that a drain should be put round the inside of the track to take off surface water, and that the course should be top-dressed where necessary. This work is to be put in hand at once, and should be of great benefit. Other improvements, including the erection of a larger totalisator house are to be deferred for a time.
