This bal-ance-sheet was adopted. Exception was taken to the principle involved in the committees executive officer, viz.. th 3 secretary in taking his instructions from donators of moneys rather than from the committee itself. A long discussion followed in which it was shown no formal meeting of committee had-ever been convened by the secretary, and that certain improvements had been effected and paid out of revenue without the knowledge of the committee. The tone of the meeting was not hostile towards the secretary, but regretted that after spending" £4O the building was still without a tank and fire places, and that the main room was yet unliried. It was resolved that in future the committee be convened periodically and that no additions or alterations be made without the authority of the hall committee. The meeting elected the following to act as committeemen for the ensuing year Messrs P. W. Bell (chairman). R. C. lionnre (hon. sec. and treas. pro tem), A. IlavIcck, E. Ealley, J. Wouldes, J. Patterson, G. Fox. . A vote thanks to donors of moneys received, to retiring secretary and to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
Mr Bocker, surveyor, is at present engaged in cutting up two sections, the property of the Marokopa Milling Company.
Mr E. C'. Stanley recently purchased a half-acre town ticetion and proposes to build an up-to-date store at an early date. An order of 22,000 feet of timber has been placed with the local milling company for the building. A largely signed petition has been forwarded to the Minister of Marine urging the necessity of the immediate erection of a wharf alongside the school. Settlers state that if the Government will contrioute towards the erection of a shed, that tnty will do their part. The encroaching of sand in the township is proving a serious menace. Precautions are being taken to deal with the matter and sand grasses are being planted.
