SITTING AT TE KUITI

Since the establishment of visiting the various outlying districts and holding mculiiigii the Auckland Land Board has mailt.: itself very much in favour with settler:-, (-specially in those in the outlying districts who have busine.-.; te do with the hoard. These visits 'nave resulted in a considerable saving of time and expense to settlers all over the province. The second of these meetings district commenced in Te Kuiti this morning, when there were present Mr H. M. Skeet (Commissioner), Messrs A. Harris, Trounison, W. Johns, A. E. Archibald (secretary), and A. P>. dordan ( Crown lands ranger).

Applications to Transfer, —Section ], block 13, Maungamangero survey district, 640 acres, Mary Thoreson, to Carl Henry Thorensen, of Mahoenui. —Granted. Section 3, block (>, Otanake survey district, 3 234 acres, James Steel to Herbert Thomas Anion —Granted.

An application by the Kawhia County Council for a certificate under section 150 of "The Land, Act" to pledge thirds as security for the "Okupata Road Special," was agreed to.

Defaulter as to residence or improvements and application for exemption.—Section 20, block 12. Orahiri survey district, 275 acres, Win. Johnston (Mr G. P. Finlay).—Granted six months to comply. Messrs Renouf and Fox, two Rangitoto Improved Farm settlers, stated that they had recently made an application to the board for cattle, but had since changed their minds on account of bad access and asked for sheep instead. —The commissioner stated that the matter of stock to Improved Farm settlers was under consideration, and that the matter would be gone into. On the application of Mr J. B. bharples the board consented to hold over for consideration transfer of section 1, block 2, Otanake survey district

Mr D. McKenzie, Mairoa, made ap plication for section 10b, No. 2, Kinohaku East, a small piece of unoccupied Crown lands, order that he might build on it, so that he would be twu miles nearer the Mniroa school.—The application was held over until the commissioner's return to Auckland.

Mr .E. J. Cherry made application for section 5, block 12, Orahiri survey district. He applied on the grounds that he had insufficient land. ■ —lt was pointed out that the section had been scheduled for ballot, but the commissioner thought that the board could deal with the request. Mr Barker was informed that his application for a Crown lands area adjoining his section in RangitotoTuhua would be attended to on the commissioner's return to Auckland.
