KING COUNTRY A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
THE FORTHCOMING SHOW. The King Country A. and P. Association is a new body in our midst. It first cama into being in March last and the officers and executive have since then been working assiduously with the obect of making the show, to be held on February 15th, a success. The show, which is to be held on the racecourse, promises to be of considerable interest to the district, inasmuch as it will be the first opportunity for King Country settlers to enter into competition from a local standpoint. Reviewing the organisation of the association the settlers connected with it are to be commended on the choice of their first president (Mr W. Gadsby), He is a man of wide experience in show circles, and is a well known and recognised authority on agricultural and pastoral matters.
In the sheep division Mr Gadsby has a good reputation. There is little doubt, but that he is the right man in the right place, for the reason that he has got such matters at heart, and is untiring in his efforts to promote their well being. An example of the interest manifested by him in tfe forthcoming event is that he has entered into competition in 52 classes. The vice-president (Mr P.. M. Somerville) has also done yeoman service in the promoting of the association's interests. The society are also fortunate in having Mr P. Mora as secretary on account of the large and varied experience he has had in connection with such matters.
Arrangements for the forthcoming event are well in hand, and it is expected that there will be at least thirty exhibitors, and the space is already being alloted. Tha association have been carefui to reserve a picturesque portion of the ground along the river for those who wish to indulge in picnicing on the day.
The association have spared no expense in the selection of judges, as they recognised that the procuring of the leading' men would be a source of education to exhibitors and the public generally, and also that it would tend to an earlier success in the matter of exhibits. The entries, which close to-night, are coming in well. Up to the time of going to press the following have been the number cf entries in the various sections: —•
