The Cricket Board of Control will meet on February 2nd, when it will deal with the protest of the six test players againHt going to England under a Board-appointed manager, who is paid out of the takings. Other business will also be considered.

Clem Hill has received the Board of Control's reply to the cricketers' protest It points out that the Board's representative will not be paid by the players, and denies that the players would not he allowed to appoint their own manager. It adds: ' 'The Board is dseirous of sending the best team to England, but will not permit any number of cricketers to dictate terms or conditions of a visit, or how the manager shall be appointed,"
ENGLAND DEFEATS TASMANIA
Launceston, Friday. The English cricketers defeated Tasmania by eight wickets.

In the final match for the Sheffield Shield; Victoria batted first and scored 129—Armstrong £>i, and Smith 20, were the chief scorers. Kellcway took three wickets for 18 runs, Hazlett :? for 50, Emery 2 for 42, and Cotter 2 for 17. New South Wales lost 7 wickets for 240 Gregory 48, Bardsley 23, Minett (not out) 65, Emeny 22, Cotter (not out) 58.
