STATUS OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

A conference of school committee delegates representing many places from Auckland and northward, was held this morning, and decided to form r. Northward School Committees Association, its object being to define the status of committees, which at present was described as being "nil" by the chairman, who said the committees have no rights at all, but plenty of responsibility. Greater powers were essential, especially in connection with the engagement and dismissal of teachers.
