REFORM PARTY RALLY.

BANQUET AT TE KUITI.

A meeting of supporters of the Reform Party was held in Mr H. J. Mussen's offi.ce on Monday evening. There was a good attendance, and the ft meeting was presided over by Mr Mussen. It was unanimously decided to tender a. banquet to Mr C. K. Wil- ' Son and other members of the Reform party, also that a garden party be held on the afternoon of the same day for the benefit of the public. It is the intention to hold the garden party in the Domain, and if the weather, is inclement the function will take place in the Skating Rink. Speeches will be made during the afternoon. A committee of ladies is to be formed for providing ot tea and refreshments for the garden party. With regard'to the banquet it is anticipated that there will be from 300 to 350 people present and that the majority of members of the Reform party Of the North Island will also be in attendance. The following were elected as a committee to arrange matters: Messrs H. J. Mussen (chairman), D. J. Young, J. Wall, A. Price, J. Pitcon, J. R. Graham, R. Cashel, N. C. Matthew, E. Trevarthen, R. M. Somerville, A. Julian, V. Kirk, W. McNaught. Mr Elias Martin was elected secretary and Mr A. Price assistant secretary and treasurer.

A general discussion took place as regards the function and the expression of opinion was that the banquet, although a social function to honour the Reform party, it also had a second object in bringing to the minds of Mr Massey and his followers the injustice which has bsen meted out to Te Kuiti and district in the matter of roads and the urgent necessity of bona fide settlers and residents of the town of Te Kuiti be-

iog given the opportunity of obtain- ' ing the freehold of their sections. It .is expected that a great deal will be accomplished by this means as the various subjects will be in the hands of capable men, which would no doubt create a favourable impression in the minds of the Reform party.
