TE KUITI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of Te Kuiti School Committee was held on Thursday evening last. There were present —Rev. E. C. Wayne (chairman), Dr Paxton, and Messrs J. F. Walsh, C. Bailey and P. Floyd (secretary). An apology was received for the nonattendance of Mr H. Jane.

The Visiting Committee's report was received and adopted.

It was reported that Mr Garland, chairman of the Auckland Education Board and Mr Farrell (architect) had visited the school during the week. The question of a district high school at Te Kuiti was brought before the notice sf the chairman, as were other matters in connection with the school. Mr Garland pointed out that the committee would require to make application to the board conforming gulations with respect to the number who would take advantage of the higher education. The secretary reported that replies from the schools i"". the surrounding districts were coming in very slowly. It was hoped that replies would be furnished as quickly as possible as the committee was anxious that the high school should be established at Te Kuiti.

In connection with the annual school picnic which is to be held in February, it was left to the Visiting Committee to confer with the teachers on the matter.

It was reported that the sum of £5 was in hand towards a 3chool library, and apDlication would be made to the Education Board for the subsidy of £ for £ on the amount.

It was decided to make application to the Education Board for a head master's room at the school, also an assistant teacher, the condition of the school warranting the same.
