OTOROHANGA TOWN COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the Otorohanga Town Council was held on Monday, at which the engineer's plana and estimates were considered for the forming and metalling of the streets. The matter caused considerable discussion and it was considered advisable to raise a loan of sufficient amount to put all the roads in first-class order to meet the requiremnts of this growing township. Messrs Vicary and Ormsby were appointed to find out the amount required and to allocate the various sums for each roan and to report at the special meeting to be held on Thursday. The Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, January 25th, to fix the day for the weekly halE-hoilday, there being a petition in favour of Saturday and another in favour of Wednesday. The Council will also fix the sanitary rate at the special meeting.
The clerk has been instructed to proceed with the compilation of the electors' roll and to place it before the council at its next ordinary meeting.
