Mr J. E. Walker, chemist, notifies in his replace advertisement that he bas moved to new and up-to-date premises in Lorigan's Buildings, next to Green and Colebrook's. Mr Herbert Ogle Wallace, who has come to assist the Rev. E. S. Wayne, was for some time occupied in the Seamen's Mission in Sunderland, England, and was closely connected with otber church work. He has been in New Zealand a litle over one year, and has come to help so that services may be held regularly throughout the whole district.

The reply from the chairman that the work would be gone on with at the earliest possible moment satisfied.the deputation that the Council were leaving "no stone unturned" with regard to this matter. A considerable area of Crown land is being cut up ir. the Marokopa district. Two survey parties have been busily engaged since the winter months in cutting up a couple of blocks. One block of about 6000 acres is being sub-divided on the southern side of the Kiritehere Valley, whilst another large area near Kairimu is being got in readiness for settlement. The land in both blocks iB of cood quality and should be eagerly sought for, when put on the market, as it is all well adapted for dairying, besides the Marokopa dairy factory is within easy distance. Lewis, the well-known coach proprietor, had the misfortune to lose a very valuable mare. The occurrence was a most extraordinary one. The mare was just taken out of ihe coach and was being held by a boy. Something startled her and she sprang off, knocking the boy down and galloped straight into the corner of Green and Colebrook's store with the result that she was killed instantaneously, her neck being broken. Staff-Sergt.-Instruptor Mooney will commence a tour of the back country districts next week in connection with the territorial training. The firßt parade will take place at Pio Pio, after which the various districts will be taken in order. Mr Graham will offer by auction on Wednesday, 24th inst., the well-known Lask block. This is sub-divided into residential sites and will be offered on easy terms with the option of .buying the freehold later. These : sections have b*en often enquired after, but up to the present have been locked up. The fruit sales are now in full swing. Mr Graham will offer on are no reserves on Saturday and all must be cleared. Mr Trevor Lloyd, the well-known Weekly News artist, has been paying a visit to Te Kuiti. Four years ago Mr Lloyd passed a holiday in the King Country, and is much impressed With the progress made in the district since that date. :
