PRESBYTERIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL.
ANNUAL PICNIC. A well attended meeting of the teachers and heplers in connection with the Presbyterian Sunday School was held during the week in the church, to arrange for the annual picnic. After discussion as to the most suitable and pleasant place at which to hold this gathering it was finally decided to go to Te Kumi. A paddock with plenty of shelter and good water has been procured, handy to the station, and being centrally situated, is easily accessible from all round Te Kuiti, by means of train and vehicle.
As the 29th January is likely to be a public holiday, it was decided to bold the event on that date, for parents would then be able to accompany their children. The intention is to leave for the grounds by the 11 a.m. train, all the children being provided with free tickets by the school. As the'-e is a good number of young people to provide food and carriages for, a committee was set up to solicit the assistance of parents and friends in this matter. An enthusiastic sports committee was set up to arrange for various entertainments for young and old and have already special prizes towards married ladies and gents, single ladies and gents, boys under 16 and 7, obstacle, sack, wheelbarrow and other races so that there should be plenty, of fun for all.
Given fine weather it is anticipted thaat a large and enjoyable gathering will eventuate. While the picnic is in the interests of the Sunday School primarily, a hearty welcome will be extended to all who desire to attend.
