GUMDIGGERS' CHRISTMAS.
MEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. [HY TKI.KI.IIAriI. —I'RKSS ASSOCIATION'.] Auckland This Day. A chance visit by a constable to a camp near Henderson yesterday led to the discovery of two men suffering from serious injuries. The camp is inhabited by gumdiggers. The constable found in a hut an elderly gumdigger laying unconscious in a pool of hlood. The man whose name is George Fry had sustained several injuries to his head, apparently caused by bottles* The constable found another gumdigger named Jack Denny lying on the ground with blood issuing from severe wounds on his head. He stated that he sustained the injuries by falling down. The serious condition of Fry rendered his removal to the hospital imperative. Denny was arrested.
