CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES
At the wool sales 16,082 bales were catalogued. There was a very large attendance, and animated competition for all classes of wools, the sale beingone of the best" seen in Christchorch for some year;. Compared with November saler, super halfbreds were Id to IJd .better, medium Id better, bright cross and three-quarterbred IJd to JirJ, shabby cross 2d better. The market for Merino was much stronger than in November, the best prices being:—Merino, llftd; halfored, 13d; three-quarterbred, 12£ d; crossbred, lid; longwool, 9d; Corriedale, 13d; Down wool, lOd; Pieces were fully up to last year's rates. The Farmers' Co-operative Co., Ltd., report: —■ At Te Kuiti yards on December 13th, we had a yarding of 1170 head of well-bred cattle and 600 sheep. There was a splendid demand, keen competition and good prices realised, young cattle and heifers especially selling well. Quotations —2 tooth ewes 12s Sd to 13s 3d, 2 tooth wethers 15s 2d, fat steers £8 to £9 15s, fat cows and heifers £5 15s to £7, fresh 3 year steers £5 IBs to £6 12s, 2 year steers. £4 10s to £4 17s, 15 to IS month steers £3 15s to £4 2s 6d, choice yearling steers £3 7s Gd to £3 12s 6d, other yearling steers £2 16s to £3 3s, 2 year dairy heifers £4 5s to £4 19s, 15 month heifers £3 15s to £4, yearling heifer 3 £3 5s to £3 10s, store cows £3 10s to £3 18s.
