WAIRERE CARNIVAL.
Own Correspondent. It is proposed to reorganise the Wairere Carnival on New Year's Day, and with that end in view a number of settlers met on Sunday to discuss ways and means. As the matter has been left rather late it may not be possible to obtain boats, so that *hc gathering will take more of the nature of a picnic, but there will be plenty of other events arranged, and given fair climatic conditions, a very enjoyable time can be spent. The Wairere falls and caves are well worth a visit on their own account, and it is hoped that a good number will attend. Next year the carnival will tie carried out on much wider lines. The committee look to every settler to cooperate with them in making the gathering a popular annual holdaiy.
