The state of the weather, combined With the excitement of a general election, has resulted in the local green being rather neglected by players. However, between showers, a faithful few have laid aside politics and indulged in a roll up on the geen. The teams chosen to compete for the Cochrane ferns are evincing keen interest in the contests which promise to provide many a stirring battle. The annual Open Tournament is being held at Te Aroha on January Ist and 2nd, when rink matches and subscription pairs are being played. The fixture is always highly popular and several local enthusiasts intend making the trip and taking part in the games. ATe Kuiti team visited Te Aroha last season and did very well. This season's combination promises to be exceedingly strong and high hopes are held of being able to eclipse all previous records.
