o_ EMPIRE PICTURE COMPANY

Another excellent programme was screened by the above company at the Te Kuiti.Town Hall on Monday evening in the presence of the usual large audience that always.greets this popular company's productions. The different items, comprising the programme were clearly and distinctly shown and a first rate evening's enjoyment was participated in by all present. On Monday evening next another splendid programme will be shown,included in which will be a beautiful Biblical drama entitled "The Deluge," said to be a wonderful picture treating with events before and during the Great Flood that destroyed the world. There will also be a stirring military picture entitled "The Son of Old Glory," beautiful marine views of Naples, and of the Bengal coast and South Sea Isles, a batch of highly amusing comedies, and a long list of other attractive items. BALDWIN'S MAH ATM A CO. The Baldwin Mahatma Company appear at the Town Hall to-night, arid submit, according to the management, an extremely interesting and diversified programme. The latest novelties in magic obtained by Dr Rowe on his recent visit to England from a great attraction. He presents a series of legerdemain events, including the Egyptian jar, a marvellous experiment wit!) water, shown for the first time in Mew Zealand, and the spirit hand, said to be a test of modern spiritualism, which completely mystifies the audience, whiie his smart patter and repartee keep the audience on the best of terms. Mora, the original "White Mahatma," presents a series of psychological problems which include the knight's move on the chess board, and astounding feats of memory with numbers and names. Ko-Ko, a Japanese lady, appears in a spectacular and pretty act. From a bawl she brings scores of articles, which includes four large balloons, and on a large frame of plush draws pictures in coloured sands. At the conclusion the stage resembles a scene from fairyland. The performance concludes with an exposition of clairvoyance and though transmission by Mora, who describes the whereabouts of absent friends. During Dr Rowe's visit to Ihe Old Country he secured the rights to present Maskeyline's cabinet act. The amusing and mysteriot.l3 turn will be added to-night as an extra attraction. The company are playing farewell visits in New Zealand prior to going to Australia and have been accorded bumper houses everywhere.
