ALLEGED FORGERY.

COMMITTED FOP, TRIAL

At a sitting of the Police Court, held on Thursday, before Dr Carolan and Mr P. Floyd, J.P's., John Carr was charged with forgery, as the result of a direction given by Mr F. O'B. Loughnan, S.M., at ths last sitting of the Magistrate's Court. Mr J. B. Snarpies appeared for the accused and the prosecution was conducted by Constable Mathew. Accused reserved his defence and was committed for trial to the Auckland Supreme Court.

Ever since the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, the desire of mar, kind to pry into the future has been most pronounced. The North Auckland Times, reporting of the Baldwin's Mahatma Company makes these remarks:—"When a lady appears on the stage, as did Mora, is blindfolded and commences to reveal the thoughts of the audience, describes past scenes, sensible people would like some other explanation than a shrug of the shoulders and a contemptuous'lt's a trick.' If its a trick it is strange that other amuae"jrfcnt caterers do not discover and utilise it. Yet we hear of hardly any competition with the White Mahatma Mystery. Dr Rowe, the genial wizard, did not take long to convince the large audience that he is a past master in the art he practices." Koko, the Japanese lady, is said to perform feats with bright vivaciousness.
