BOWLS.

The initial game in the competition for the Cochrane ferns, presented to the Te Kuiti Club, was played on the green on Thursday last when Spencer's team defeated Cochrane'g. Weather conditions were unfavourable to play on Saturday last, and although one or two players braved the elements for a time there was no joy in the situation. The challenge games for the Cochrane ferns which were being looked forward to with interest did not eventuate.
