MAPIU.

A very pleasant. afternoon was spent at, Mapiu on Saturday last when Tin Pio and Wairoro met. at, cricket. <n Messrs Anthony anil Elliott's paddock. The teams wen fairly evenly matched and sonic very good form was shown Wairero went first to the wicket and contributed a scoro of 09, the- highest scorers being Elliott and Purnell. After afternoon lea had heen dispensed by Mapiu ladies. Pio Pio faced the howlers and put toccthcr a total of SO before the last wicket fell. Messrs llohson and (.5. Elliott made a good partnership piling together most of the runs before the latter wan slumped. Another such practice match and Pio Pio will be ready to try conclusions with To Kuiti and Mangnpelii. There were quite a number of visitors present and a very enjoyable day was ended with hoarty cheers for the ladies.
