MAHOENUI.

A considerable amount of improvements are taking place in this district. Between Mahoenui and Paemako a large area of bush has been felled during the pa;t winter, it being estimated that over 3000 acres have succumbed to the axe. This inean3 that after grassing and fencing has been completed, that an expenditureof over .£ 10,000 will have taken place in the district. All the farms are well stocked. Lambing was not too good this season and farmers attribute the fact to the dry autumn experienced. Shearing will commence as soot as the weather takes up. It is anticipated that the output of wool will be considerably in excess of last year.
