PAEMAKO.
Own Correspondent
The weather recently has been very stormy, in fact this has been the wettest and windiest weather we have had for long enough. This last cold snap has retarded growth somewhat, and the strong winds have a very blighting effect. Previously everything was looking very well, but what we want now is plenty of sunshine and warm days. We are at the present time in the thick of the electioneering campaign. The candidates have so far been skirmishing on the outskirts; they have, so to speak, been trying their wings for more adventurous aerial evolutions. Mr Wilson has been here and Mr Jennings is coming on the 20th inst., so that things will be quite lively before long. I have to congratulate Mr P. O'Dwyer on being duly elected councillor.
The annual settlers' picnic will be held this year on Boxing Day in Messrs Johnston Bros', property on the Aria road. A strong committee is at work getting things in order. The Paemako annual school examination is to take place about the 28th inst. As soon as fine weather comes along shearing will be in full swing in our district.
