TANGITU.
[ Own Correspondent. I am compelled to notice a statement which appeared in your issue of November 11th. I must adhere to my former statement and state that I told the. truth. Mr Dagerman himself admitted that he was a week overdue, having paid cut down the Wanganui r'ver first, which took up a week of his time. I would ask Mr Settler before he starts contradicting statements, to rind out the truth of such matters and not to go rushing into print abuut things that, according to his own letter, he is entirely ignorant of. Payment has been made here about seven days after time goes in, from the very commencement of read works in the settlement, and where Mr Settler gets his altered time-table I am at a loss to find out. Probably time will tell. In my notes 1 did not mention that the fault laid with either Mr Dagerman or Mr Coldstream, nor dol say so now, but in Mr Settler they have a good champion and can come to no harm.
