GALE AT PIO PIO.
A CYCLONIC GUST.
On Sunday morning at Pio Pio an exteniely violent gust of wind was experienced and resembled very much for the time being one. of those typhoons which we read of that occurs in the Chinese, seas. The blast was experienced about half-past ten, with the result that the marquee which was in use as a school was completely blown down, the clock broken, black boards and other equipment, scattered all over the vicinty. It is fortunate that the accident occurred on a Sunday morning, as had it ocurred on school day there would undoubtedly have been a serious accident. Sheets of iron, and other articles were lifted by the, wind and tossed through tne air. It is to be sincerely hoped the Board of Education will realise the urgent necessity of erecting a proper school building. The instance under review emphasises the danger to life incidental upon continuing the present state of affairs.
