Own Correspondent. On Sunday last the local cricket eleven played their first match for this season against a combined eleven from Tiroa and Parikura, at Tiroa. Trucks conveyed about thirty players and visitors to Tiroa, and a most enjoyable day was spent, the visitors speaking in high praise of the hospitality of the home players. The match resulted in a win for the combined team by nine wickets. This team shows a great improvement in form on last season, when they were defeated on four occasions by the Mangapehi team. The local players showed want of practice, and this loss will probably add the incentive. Scores: —
