CHORAL SOCIETY.

The above society is making steady progress, despite tli« tedious work common to all initial efTorts. The practices arc well attended, there being an average attendance of thirty members so far. "The Crucifixion" i» well in hand and various other pieces are now to he dealt with. Professor Swallow, the conductor, must be very much encouraged by the great enthusiasm displayed by the society in its beginnings. A committee meeting was held after practice on Wednesday evening last. theKev. A. Armstrong presiding. It was decided to make the first part of the forthcoming entertainment a miscellaneous programme, to bo then followed by the "Crucifixion." Arrangements were made to accept the oiler of the Ladies' Guild to loan the society a piano at half a crown per night. The date, of the concert was discussed and it was decided to book the Town Hall for November Kith if possi bio. Owing to the very few remaining practices available and the great necessity therefore for full and effective attendances, it, was decided that . next Wednesday the membership tickets should be issued and that no new members be admitted to the society after thai evening. All absent, from the next practice will be excluded from the society for the remaining part of the season un- : an apology is forthcoming.
