SACRED RECITAL.

A recital of sacred music was given in the Congregational Church, Te Kuiti, on Sunday night. There was a very large attendance, the congregation overflowing into the aisle and the porch, and a large number being unable to get inside at all. After the opening hymn the choir sang the anthem "What are These?" followed by Mr Karl Atkinson in "Thou'rt like a lovely flower" (Schuman) and "Praise of God" (Beethoven). Mrs Ovens then sang "The Psalm of Life" (Covven) and a quartette of singers, Messrs K. Atkinson and Patterson and Mesaames K. Atkinson and Ovens, sang Woodward' ''The Radiant Morn." During the ofliertorv, in aid of the church fund 3, which follow3d, Mrs Ovens played Handel's "Largo" as a voluntary. Then came a duet by Mesdames Ovens and K. Atkinson, "0, lovely peace" (Handel), after which Mr K. Atkinson sang "Thou'rt passing hence" (Sullivan), and Mrs K.Atkinson sang"o rest in the Lord" (Mendelsohn.) The choir sang the "Te Deum" (Jackson) and the service cloied with a hymn by the congregation.
