The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report:— At Pio Pio on 19th inst., yearling steers made £2 ]9s to 32s 6d, mixed yearlings £2 15s, yearling heifers £2l 7s, dairy cows £6 to £7, store cows £3 2s 6d. At Hamilton on 21st in r t., we penned 415 sheep, 250 head of cattle, a large number being springing heifers, also 70 pigs. There was good competition, and a total clearance was effected at most satisfactory prices. Fat cows made£7 10s to £8 ss, heifers £6 10s to £6 15s, cows in forward condition £4 7s (id to £5, store cows £3 to £3 2s Gd, yearling steers £2 19s to £3 4s, 2A year steers £4 14s, mixed
yearlings in low conditions 39s to 44s 2 year empty heifers £4, dairy cows at profit £6 7s (id to £7 17s 6d, springing neifers £7 to £8 12s 6d, heifers more backward £5 to £6, fat wethers 21s to 255, fat ewes 17s 2d to 19s, fat hoggets 16s to 17s 6d, f.m. ewes and lambs 10s Id, store pigs 27s to 365, slips 14s 6d to 15s 6d, weaners lis 6d to 123 6d. At Ngaruawahia on tli3 23rd, we
had a medium yarding of cattle which were all taken by buyers at following prices:—Fat steers marie £lO to £lO 10s, fat cows £6 15s to £8 15s, 2 £ to 3 year steers £5 33, 2 year steers £4 to £4 2s, yearlings £2 Ss to £2 19s, store cows empty £3 10s to £4 2s 6d, yearling heifers £3 to £3 4s, springing heifers £6 2s 6d to £7, dairy cows £6 15s to £8 10s, backward heifers £4 12s 6d to £4 17a 6d, pigs, slips 14s. A lease of a section vested in the Ngaruawahia Library Committee, containing 25 perches, realised £4l per annum for a term of 14 years. The Farmers' Auctioneering Company report:- --
We held our monthly sale at Hikutaia on 38th inat. when 600 head of cattle were yarded. There was a large attendance of brisk bidding for all classes. On 19th inst. we held our annual hogget sale at Ohaupo also our usual stock sale. There was a large attendance and spirited bidding for both sheep and cattle at advanced rates; 5300 sheep were yarded comprising 4600 hoggets 400 wethers and 300 ewes with lambs. Prices Fat wethers 23s forward wethers 17s 3d to 19a 3d, ewe hoggets shorn 13s to 15s 3d, woolly 15s 9d to 17s 9d, extra good mixed hoggets woolly 16s 6d to 18s, wether hoggets 13s 9d to 15s, mixed well grown hogget 3 12s to 15s 9d, others 9s to lis 9d, empty ewes 10s, ewes with lambs 19s 3d, pigs, slips 20s to 29a, weaners 13s 6d to 14s. The same day we yarded 650 head of cattle: 2 year steers £1 10s to £4 15s, 18 month steers £3 17s 6d, yearling steers £2 15s to £3 9a, 2 year empty heifers £4 4s to £4 6a, 18 month heifers £3 2s 6d to £3 lis, choice yearling steers £3 16s, choice yearling heifers £3 12s, dairy cows £7 to £B, dairy heifers £6 to £8 10a for the best, others £4 5s to £5 10s We held a sale of pigs at Frankton on 20th inst., on account of Mr R. Chilcott. There was only a small attendance but fair prices were realised. Sows with young £3 to £8 sa, purebred Tamworth sow £7 10a, Berkshire bar £2 23, Tamworth Ifjjgs to 2gs. On the 18th we held a clearing sale on behalf of Mrs McNicul, at Gordonton. There was a very large attendance, and spirited bidding for evreything, good prices being obtained. English Leicester flock sold as follows: —Ewes If to 2ggs, ewe hoggets 2 and 2£gs, ram hoggets 2\ to 3gs, choice dairy cows in milk £8 10s to £ll ss, choice heifers, forward in calf or in milk £S to £lO 10s, backward in calf heifers £4 10s to £6 6s, empty 2 year heifers 4Jgs, .yearling heifers £2 2s to £4 4s, bulls Gl to 17gs. Draught horses £26 to £3B, hacks £ll 10a to £l3. Implements, furniture, etc., at full rates.
