The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— At Ohaupo on 11th inst., we yarded 480 head of cattle, all classes being well represented. There was good competition and all sold with the exception of two pens of yearlings. Prices—Dairy heifers close to profit £6 17s 6d to .€8 ss, do. more £6 to £7 15s, aged or backward do. £4 to £4 12s 6d, 15 months steers £3 16s to £4, yearling steers £2 15s to £3 7s, yearling heifers £2 12s to £3 Is, IS months old heifers £3 4s to £3 12s 6d, empty cows £2 ISs to £3 16s, fat and forward cows £5 2s 6d to £5
On 15th inst. we sold horses, traps, furniture, etc., at Tautari, on account of Mr C. Turner. There was a large attendance of settlers and good price were realised for everything. On 16th inst., at Te Awamutu 343 head of cattle came forward, also 8 pens of s'neep and 40 pigs. Prices — Fat heifers £6 15s, 18 month empty heifers £3 10s to £5 ss, yearling heifers £2 12s to £2 16s, mixed yearlings steers £2 6's to £3, small do. 34a to 395, empty cows £3 to £3 ]7a lid, springing heifers £7 10s to £lO ss, others more backward £5 10s to £6 15s, dairy cows £7 to £lO, forward woolly hoggets 14s to 16s, store do. 12s 2d, ewes and lambs 15s, store pigs 255, slips and weaners 7s 6d tol 2s 6d. The Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:—
On 16th inst., we held our Hamilton stock sale, when the entry consisted of 144 pigs, 521 aheep, 169 fat cattle, 181 store cattle, and 168 dairy cows and heifer 3. Pigs, fat sheep and fat cattle sold under keen competition' made extreme prices. Store cattle sold fairly well, as also did dairy cows and heifers, considering the backward condition they were in. Prices—Weaner pigs 6s to 14s, slips 18s to 355, baconers £2 17s 6d, medium fat wethers 19s to 245, a few heavy fat wethers 27s to 31s, aged ewes with lambs, 15s 3d, cull hoggets 10s, forward hoggets 14s 6d, weli-fattened steers £ll 12s 6d to £l3, light-weight fat steers £8 10s to £lO ss, well-fattened cows and heifers £7 15s to £9 10s, light-weight cows and heifers £6 7s Gd to £7 30s, rising 2 year heifers in backward condition £3 lis, same aged Jersey cross heifers £5 2s 6d, rising 2 year steers £3 15s to £4 7s, choice yearlings £2 19s to £3 ss, other £2 10s to £2 15s, late calves 30s to 355, best dairy cows and heifers £7 to £9, others £5 to £6, small heifers coor and backward £4 to £4 3 ss.
