TE KUITI TENNIS CLUB.

A general meeting of the above club was held in the Chronicle office on Monday evening last. Mr Forsyth in the chair.

The financial statement, as read by the secretary, was adopted. The balance in hand is £1 2s 3d, assets £5, liabilities nil.

The appointment of officers resulted as follows:—-President, Mr Foy: vicepresidents, Messrs N. G. Matthew, R. M. Somerville, A. Julian, A. V. Snadden and R. B. Webber; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. Short; committee, Messrs Wallace, Howarth, Bartleman, Robinson, Simmonds.

A letter was received from the secretary of the proposed South Auckland Tennis A ssociation informing the club that it was their wish to include the King Country in the proposed association. —'The matter was left in the hands of Mr Matthew and the secretary to deal with. Tne invitation from the Mangapehi Club to their opening day on Saturday, September 30th was accepted with pleasure. The challenge from the Mangapehi Club for the Howard Shield for October 14th, was accepted, the match to be played at Te Kuiti. Resolved that the subscription for the ensuing season be £1 Is gentlemen, 10s 6d ladies. A special committee consisting of Messrs Julian, Matthew, Bartleman and Short were appointed to make arrangements re new ground, this committee to report to a special genera! meeting the date of same to be advertised. Mr Short moved that it be an instruction to the committee to draft a set of rules to be submittted to the next general meeting. Seconded by Mr Bartleman and carried.

Resolved that Saturday, October 7th, be declared the opening day and that the Taumarunui, Rangaroa, Mangapehi, Manunui, Te Awamutu and Ongarue clubs be invited to be present. The general meeting adjourned and the committee met and decided as follows: — That two luads of sand be ordered forthwith. That two sets of tapes be obtained. That on Saturday, September 23rd, a working bee be held on the courts. AH members are asked to attend.
