OTOROHANGA.
FARMERS' UNION BALL. A most successful ball was held at Otorohanga on Thursday, August; 17th. It was promotd) by the local branch of the Farmers' Union, anil Mr K. (>. Matthews, President, and Mr 11. M. Quinn, Secretary, carried the arrangements through. A great amount of work was entailed, and the officials concerned are to be congratulated on the turnout. The weather was against a full attendance, but in spite of a steady downpour of rain all day about thirty couples braved the elements and reaped their reward in a most enjoyable evening.
